I had a goal to get some new designs up in both my Etsy shops. I wanted some "fresh" new looks before I closed down for a bit....although that has yet to happen for me...bummer! BUT, today is yet another day, that I will be sitting inside, in the Air Conditioning, on this beautiful and hot summer day, so maybe, just maybe....I will be able to get some things done! All has not been lost though! I have done some work with trade-a-holics, I have made some new promotional products, I have finished several websites, and will be finishing another today! So needless to say, productivity has in fact been high! Not to mention, the loads of laundry I have done for the family, and new baby, and today, the labor bag will be packed and ready! Now....off to finish up that site, and eat the almond cookies that I just remembered I stashed away! YUM!

So, not everyone knows that on Etsy, you can make trades with other designers that are willing to do so! And to support this fun idea, is an Etsy group called "Trade-a-holics." I don't remember how I stumbled upon this specific group in one of the etsy forums, BUT....it is AMAZING! I have done work for a lot of new Etsy shop owners, and seasoned shop owners, and every time has been wonderful! There are so many artists that are ready and willing to distribute their product for yours! What are the benefits, you ask? Well....you do get handmade or vintage, awesome stuff...that maybe you wouldn't outwardly purchase for yourself, and basically at cost...you trade equal price amounts, so that's great, you are supporting other designers, you are both getting new people interested in your products, and you can leave each other feedback in your shops! Which, come on....we all LIVE for when selling on Etsy! I mean, I know I get giddy, every time I notice that I am a number higher on my feedback! It lets both buyers and sellers alike, know that you are trust worthy, and well, as simple a gesture as it is, it really boosts your self esteem to see someone else, sing praises to you publicly, over a job well done! So! If you are into the idea of an "eye for an eye" a "tit for a tat" or simply put... "item for an item" to help support your business and another Etsian....check out the Trade-a-holic forum, and give it a go! But beware.....IT'S ADDICTING! So, have fun, and Trade On!

Etsy is a real love of mine! It seems to be my go to place for shopping lately. I can't believe how many creative individuals can be found in one spot! And some of the photographs that people take to represent their items, are art in themselves. I have spoken to a lot of sellers, that are in the same position as I am also. I didn't know that there were so many more mothers who worked from home, to be able to earn some income, and also be there for their children, a lot of whom have special needs. I have three children and one on the way, my oldest has severe special needs, my youngest was diagnosed with type one diabetes almost a year ago, and it makes me feel not so "alone" knowing that there are other moms out there, doing what I am doing, out of necessity. Not just the necessity of money, or the necessity of being there for their children who need more assistance, but for the necessity of being able to save their sanity, and inspire through their own creations! It is not easy being a mom in general, it is not easy to be a mom with special needs children, and it is not easy being a work at home mom in either scenario. There are numerous distractions, and even some guilt about working, sometimes into all hours of the evening. But, if you do what you love, it shouldn't really feel like work. I mean, at the end of the day...are you grateful?! I know I am, and I'm so thankful to be able to help others on their journeys of small business operation....even if it's just something little like creating a tag for them to represent their work. I have found that Etsy, is almost therapeutic for me. I love the convos from people, I love learning about their products, and their lives, which all seem to melt together in a way, and there are a lot of sellers, who are just so supportive and inspiring. I hope that some of the clients I have done work for, feel that I embodied that for them in some way also. Thank you so much to all you wonderful Etsy mothers, and sellers, who are out there, bringing their passions to others, for the sake of necessity to their souls and sanity!

Ok! So...I've been putting off starting my Dink A Doo Studios blog for a VERY long time! Partly because my work load has been crazy, and also because everyone is anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new little guy, which will be any time now! I just didn't want to start something that was going to have to be put on hold right away. But, then I figured, what the heck! I better get set up now, so everything is raring to go by the time I start back to work! The less I have to cram in for my business at that time, the better! Most of my days revolve around working for my clients, so my own projects get put on the back burner. I have lightened my work load right now, since I don't want to be in the middle of a large project and have to come back to it asap! So, with this weird thing called "time" I have right now will be directed towards my own company! Up this week for my business is new promotional items, hopefully a few new premade shop sets, a much overdue twitter account, and my new website will be up and running! Woo! That's a lot! But, YAY for me finally getting the ball rolling on my end!
